TSR-80 Pocket Computer

Looking at a couple of the base adapter modules on eBay, I do wonder if it's a direct pin connection to the tape deck. Have a look- the number of pins on the device and the base would allow for a set of pins to be dedicated to the printer, and the others for the tape deck.

But, which wires are which is the big question...

@Jasper Yeah, but with a keyboard and BASIC interpreter. It even allowed ? to be used in place of PRINT.

I found on in high school and coded random number games which usually required you to keep the game status on a piece of paper. Darts, baseball, etc. I psuedo-coded each game on paper then keyed it in, and at one point I ran out of ram (keeping different games at different number ranges) and learned of the ? thing. Silly me sold/traded it before I went to college.

The screen is gunked out on my current ebay'd years-ago one. Not sure if it was just time or frozen/heat or what.

@Performa do you have any of the HP clamshells that ran DOS?

I've got a Compaq sub-notebook that runs DOS/3.11, and some of those slab-tops you're aware of, but I do not have any of the old HP tiny pocket computer things. @PS2it might though.

If you're looking for one, I can certainly go hunting for one. 😉

Here's the photo I got of it at the show. I'm still not quite sure what happened to the screen myself, and am waiting to hear back from some others on it.

I’ve got a Compaq Contura similar to Performa’s, but that’s all. At some point I’d like to get hands on a HP or a Gateway Handbook, or even a Toshiba Libretto. Even though the latter two are a little bigger than the HP, they’re certainly still tiny!

Whilst perusing Reddit, I ran across a post about someone who replaced the screen in their TRS-80 PC. Doesn't sound too hard to do. I'll do some more digging. Perhaps we can get the screen on this one working yet!
