End of the iPod

Per Apple, the last iPod generation will be the last iPod generation. They're discontinuing the product outright.

Once again, the future has become history!

I love my iPods. Still use them pretty regularly if I just want to listen to my digital music library without any interruptions. I am very sad that Apple discontinued the iPod, since it was kind of my introductory product for Apple along with the iMac G3. I remember getting my first iPod (iPod Nano 2nd Generation) and thinking I was the coolest kid at school since I was able to listen to my music at recess and in the lunch room haha.

With the news in mind, I did end up getting one of the iPods off Apple's website. I mainly use my iPod 5th Gen for most of my music listening, but would like to try out the last iPod as well. This does make me wonder what we use heavily now that in 20 or so years will become discontinued/forgotten like the iPod. I suppose only time will tell.

Long live the iPod!

I still use one of the early-generation iPod shuffles in my van, and I'll keep using it until it dies. If it isn't broken, don't fix it so they say!

I still have a working 2003 model, works great for stereo auxiliary hookups at picnics and with the iTrip as an FM transmitter. At some point I installed Linux onto it that had a bunch of extra apps and features.
