HD-DVD Player

Off topic I suppose, but I stopped by Goodwill in Point the other day to look for speaker wires, and ran across this beauty.

This is a Toshiba HD-A1SN HD-DVD player, which can play HD-DVD's. For a brief window between 2006 and 2008, the future of media was unknown- the High Definition format would either be Blu-Ray (backed by Sony) or HD-DVD (backed by Toshiba). You probably know how that fight went based on what you can still buy at the stores. ;)

While it's still relatively "new" technology in terms of age, the HD-DVD format is arguably more "dead" than any other old media format. CED, Laserdisc, VHS, and even Beta all have active communities and thriving discourse surrounding their various media formats, and while HD-DVD has a few collectors of course, it's not quite the same.

I'm not exactly sure how something like this could be integrated into future programs or events, but we've got one now in the inventory. If anyone has a project requiring an HD-DVD player, let me know! Bear in mind, the only movie I've got as of this writing is "300" though.
