When it comes to eBay, I have a bit of an impulse control problem. When I see deals, I tend to move on them. I said I wasn't going to buy anything more this month, and was only going to check on the things I'm actually selling right now, and... well, I went in the "vintage computer" section and searched by "newly listed" and... well, one thing led to another.

I've attached the seller's photo below. It's a Sharp PC-7000 that appears to be in working order, and the price was very right. It should be here at the shop by the first week of September, and then we can all get a good look at it and run it through it's paces. I look forward to sharing this rather interesting early portable PC specimen with all of you soon!

Here's the seller's photo of the back panel too. When I first saw it I thought it was just a quirky word processor, but sure enough there is supposed to be a whole XT class PC in there.

That's awesome! Gotta admire the old portables with full switch/mechanical keyboards. I hope the shipment arrives safely. I've pretty much decided to avoid fragile computer acquisitions if they require shipping anymore as I've had too many things broken in transit.

That's definitely a factor. I felt a little more bold on this one as it is a "portable" computer so it's a little more rugged in nature, and should be easier to package than something with a CRT in it, or something like a Macintosh with all that brittle plastic. It's definitely a roll of the proverbial dice, but I'm a bit of a gambler- so we'll see how they land in a couple weeks! Fingers crossed! 🤞

I have received word from USPS that the thing may arrive as early as today.

Not sure how that's possible, but I'll keep you all posted! ;)

How does it look?

EDIT: Nevermind. I see you posted pictures in another thread!
