I have succumbed to madness. (Big Sharp TV)

So, I got word about a free TV locally, and it was too woodgrain for me to pass up. In what is unlikely to be a flattering look at the inner workings of my mind, here it is on the way back in.

Buckle up for safety!

I gotta say though, the picture quality is mighty good.

Now, as some may already be wondering: Mak, what on earth are you going to do with an enormous, wildly obsolete Sharp Linytron TV set?

Well, at this stage two things. The first is that it's taken up temporary residence on my big bench, and I've been using it for the big C64 disk project on and off for a bit. The second more exciting future for this set is that it is an absolutely perfect set to pair with the RCA SJT-100 Selectivision CED videodisk player we have. CED is the definition of dead retro media- poor video quality, fragile media, a lackluster collection of films released on the format, a scarcity of working players, and so on. But we've got a working system, and it would seem the sort of thing that would look great on display at a future show. Being able to set it up on something that looks the part with a monitor that matches it's aesthetic is a nice bonus- and the fact that the Linytron doesn't weigh too much (40 pounds, maybe) makes this a good candidate for future shows- at least in my mind.

We've got a winter show, Robocup 2, and goodness knows what else coming in the days ahead- gotta be ready right?
