I am pleased to report that the Wisconsin Computer Club now has a coveted JVC Video Sphere TV set. Woohoo!

Still has the "solid state" sticker on there and everything. Looking forward to "rolling" this out to future shows! 😄

To lean all of it, I had to remove the visor, which thankfully came off without any trouble. Extremely dusty in there!

While the set is very cool, I regret to say that when powered on it doesn't "do" anything. I'm hoping that this turns out to be like the Zenith monitor, and the fuse has just come loose. I guess we will see soon enough. This set will definitely be fixed soon- either my me, or by a pro (if I can find one).

Here it is side by side with it's predecessor, the JVC Video Capsule. The video capsule does work, but it hasn't been to a show in ages.

Was that the one listed on Craigslist/FB Marketplace? I remember seeing one posted a few months ago but it was a bit out of my price range. Cool find!

I don't think so, as that one had different marks on it, and didn't have the sticker on the visor.

Wild to think that there are a bunch of these in the area.

So it's been a while, and I finally had some time to get this set in front of Lenny, one of the most talented electronic repair techs currently living. It took him no time to deduce the problems, and get the set working for us again!

It had blown fuses, damaged wires, cracked solder, and so much grime it was unreal. Some of the adjustment pots wouldn't even turn. But this JVC VideoSphere is back in business, and is set to be at our show in Wausau on July 13th!
