Macintosh II

My in-laws had a Macintosh II when I was dating my wife. It got a lot of SimCity play :) I learned they still have it so asked to take it and see how it worked, as I was now associated with a club. Here's some pictures. I haven't fired it up yet. Gun-shy about capacitors...

The two black cylinders on the board that say "VARTA" on them are lithium ion batteries, likely soldered directly to the board. One is a PRAM battery for the clock and configurations, while the other provides power for the soft power switch. If it doesn't fire up, it's likely the battery is dead. I believe these are he same size/voltage as the PRAM batteries from other Macs, so another one should work if wired up. I don't know offhand which battery is which.

There's probably a means to clip coin cell batteries into the circuit too without too much work.

Everything else "should" be fairly stable, at least from what I've seen in the photos. Very cool machine sir!

Just like Performa said the Mac II does need a battery to start. You can jump start them by placing a battery between the shielding and the white wire on the power supply. 65scribe has a video on this. They're 3 volt 1/2 AA lithium batteries but you can replace them with two AAs.
