Sharp PC 7000 (Inventory)

So I ran across a deal on eBay, and managed to get a Sharp PC 7000 portable computer, and went ahead and bought it. While these aren't exactly "rare" out there (there's one for sale on eBay pretty much every day of the week) this one appeared to be in excellent condition and the price was right. I was really excited to see that the screen wasn't cracked, and that the keyboard had all of the original keycaps and the keyboard cable. So, over it came.

A little yellowed, and kinda dirty, I've ascertained that it is in good shape and it does power on and start. Both disk drives act like it wants to run, though as of now I haven't managed to get any version of DOS (including FreeDOS) to start on it. Thinking back to a video I had watched a long time ago, I seem to recall that other Sharp branded PC products had proprietary "boot disks" not unlike the Amiga 1000's "Kickstart" disks, which this one did not come with. I still need to do some more digging and research- it could simply be that I haven't found the compatible/working "version" of DOS for this one too, but I welcome any information or insight on this one anyone may have. I'm confident in time we will have this one up and running!

Video to follow, including an overview and a disassembly. I'll have more photos along the way as well. Many thanks all, I can't wait to share this one with you all going forward!

I'll get some pictures with the "real" camera too. My phone takes some absolutely dreadful photos I'm afraid. 😬
