Upcoming Events: June 2021

The Wisconsin Computer Club is riding the wave from the RoboCup event to yet more shows and events in the upcoming month of June. As the Covid situation continues to improve, I'm more and more optimistic that we'll be able to hold additional events of a variety of sizes. But, what to do?

Open House Events!

First, we're hammering out a tentative date for our next "Open House" event at a library somewhere in central Wisconsin. I've reached out to several, so we may have shows in multiple places throughout the month. When I know more, so will you.

Game tournaments!

We've had a lot of interest in doing more game tournaments from both club members and the public alike. What we'd play, where, and when are all up for consideration- but as a standalone event we should be able to get space with some of our business partners in town (again, Covid permitting) and run these quickly and easily. A few games suggested include Nintendo Smash, Mario Kart, Golden Eye 64, CounterStrike, Starcraft, and Gauntlet. We're adding more games to the list for consideration, feel free to shout them out in this thread too. When I have a venue figured out, we'll reach out to the club here for a vote and on Facebook- from there we'll determine what we're playing and go from there.

Other Stuff!

I'd very much like to host a workshop event here at the shop, though what we'd do is up for discussion. I've no shortage of project machines we could tinker with though, and perhaps you've got something you'd want to collaborate on too. If anyone is interested, message me. 😁

I think that's about it for the moment. More news to follow!

Before I forget again, yes we are still planning on having Amiga Fest, but that is being pushed back until the fall or winter. More details on that sometime down the road.

Alright, time for a quick update:

The Portage County Library system can't schedule us for anything... yet. Once the county gives them the all clear, we're golden to start doing things with them, and they sound pretty excited to have us at some point in the future.

The Wood County Library system (namely McMillian library in Wisconsin Rapids) has replied that they'd like to meet with me to discuss things, but a meeting date hasn't been set yet.

The Wausau library hasn't gotten back to me yet, nor has the Roehl Library in Marshfield. I haven't reached out any farther yet. if anyone has any areas they'd like me to reach out to for a show or shows, shout them out here!
