Zenith 180 (Inventory)

The WCC has a whale of a machine in the form of a Zenith Data Systems (Heathkit) Z-180 desktop. The hard drive spins, the lights come on, it has both 5.25" and 3.5" drives- it's very nice. The downside is that I still can't get any video out of it, though we've moved to another point of failure at least.

The previous card was a Heathkit CGA graphics card that had a bunch of corrosion on it, and it never seemed to work. I finally had a chance to swap in the MDA video card I snagged on eBay a while back, and coupled that with an MDA monitor and... nothing. However, it may not be on the computer this time. I discovered that the MDA monitor was mighty quiet, and upon closer inspection, doesn't appear to be running. So I'm going to focus efforts on fixing that first. Failing that, I suppose I really should just bite the proverbial bullet and get a modern Pi-based MDA/CGA/EGA converter device. I imagine some of you out there might find such a thing useful too.

Pictures coming soon, as well as more updates!

I haven't dumped the pictures off of that card yet. Seems the last time it got any attention that way was last year before I moved. Man, I am glad I have a bigger shop now!
