Apple II Plus repair

An extremely generous donor reached out to us and asked if we could give their Apple II Plus, their first computer, a good home where it'll be loved ad used. I said we can absolutely do that! Here it is:

Dusty, and with a couple of unseated chips, but otherwise in good shape. It'll clean up nicely!

Doesn't currently load, probably a bad RAM chip or two, but that'll be simple enough to sort out- just time consuming testing everything.

After reseating the chips, the display changed again:

Oh, and the Sanyo CCTV monitor that came with it is a real tank from back in the day, and it powered right up without any problems.

Update time!

I'm told that the II+ will boot with the bottom 4k of RAM loaded, and so I went ahead and carefully extracted all but the bottom 4k of RAM. Now it doesn't do anything, so I'm thinking it's probably one of these chips that's gone bad on it. I figure now it's a matter of swapping things around until it starts working in some capacity. Fingers crossed!

I'll remember to get pictures next time around.

I'd love to have the II+ up and running at a show. I know a lot of you guys have slick IIE and IIGS setups, so the II+ running something easy like Oregon Trail or something might be a neat contrast.
