The only 8-bit microcomputer from the 80's that hasn't been subject to wild price increases is the Texas Instruments TI-99/4A. Why the TI computers have remained relatively accessible while things like Atari and Commodore computers have climbed in price is a complicated and much debated question- though I'd say it's mostly due to TI's less than stellar lineup of games, and the more limited community to support the platform. All the same, these are still fairly accessible machines for those looking for a new project. THIS example is on eBay right now.
