There's a new store in Plover Wisconsin, just south of Stevens Point where I am, called Gadgets and Goodies. It's described as a "Radio Shack candy store hybrid" and that certainly got my attention. I've been saying for years it would be awesome to have Radio Shack (or something like it from it's heyday) back so we could get parts locally again, and I'm always for a place to buy candy you can't get elsewhere. I finally got to stop in and talk to the owner, Mr. Brandt, and he let me take a few pictures and ask a few questions.
They're brand new, and they're building up slowly, but the local response has been good so far. The store has a lot of "basics" and "essentials" all in Radio Shack branding which is cool, as well as tablets and a few other gizmos. They ultimately want to add things like parts, soldering kits and equipment, and more which I really dig. The candy side of things focuses mainly on imported stuff which you can't really get around here anywhere. Simply put, I think it's a brilliant idea, and judging by all the people that were coming and going I'm not the only one that thinks so.
The store is at 3027 Village Park Drive in Plover Wisconsin, stuck in the same building as IHOP, right off the highway. Definitely check this place out if you're in the Plover zone.
