Hello all! Good news!

The Wisconsin Computer Club has teamed up with the Portage County Library, and we will be bringing the WINTER RETRO FEST to the Stevens Point Library on Saturday, November 20th!

This will be a combination swap meet and open house show- I'll be bringing a whole bunch of cool stuff out to see and play with, and others are invited to do the same. If you've got retro tech you want to part with, or are looking for something, this would be a great time to grab it!

To clarify, I hear back from the library tomorrow 11/12/21 whether members will be allowed to actually buy/sell (though I would presume trading is allowed). One provision of the space agreement was that nothing would be sold, and while the WCC itself isn't selling anything (we will be giving plenty of stuff away) I don't want say it's a "real" swap meet unless we've got that locked in for sure. I'm not sure how flexible that rule is. If their answer is yes, we're golden, if not we'll schedule a bespoke event for that in the near future.

Doors will open at 10:00AM! Running until 4:00PM! Admission (as always) is totally free!

Hope to see you there!

We get access to the room at 9AM, and have it until 5PM, at which point we have to be gone. I'll be there for the duration, but members are welcome to come and go between those times. Big shoutout to the Portage County Library, this is most excellent, and I was really starting to worry that we weren't going to be able to fit in the Winter Retro Fest.

If you're planning to come and set up and display stuff, or to be part of the swap meet, let me know so I know how we need to arrange the room. If you need tables, tablecloths, or power cables let me know in advance so I can have them ready. Every table will be getting a tablecloth to make sure we aren't scratching any of the library's fixtures- I'm happy to provide them, I'll just need to know how many to get before then.

If you think I'm missing anything, shout it out here, message me, or cook up a thread around here somewhere. I'll see it. ;)

If it's not obvious, I'm excited already! Hope to see you there!

Top of my head, we'll definitely have the following at the show set up for people to see, use, and play with!

A Commodore 64 (1982), game(s) to be determined.
An Amiga of some sort, game(s) to be determined.
The Atari 400 (1979) with either Star Raiders or Pac Man.
The Commodore Colt (1988) with Planet X3.
The Macintosh Plus (1986) with Macintosh Tour.
The Macintosh SE (1989) with Oregon Trail.
The RCA Selectavision CED display- see some classic cartoons in the weirdest retro video format in our clear-topped display player.

Might add more, or swap some in and out- but that's what I can for sure fit onto the tables I have in the show kit that's ready to go. 😁

If you're thinking of coming to show off your Commodore 64 or something off of the list above, let me know- I can swap stuff out really easily to widen the list of things we will have at the show, and so I'm not stealing anyone else's thunder. Together, we can make a truly spectacular event!

I'd be interested in setting up a few things! Not sure exactly what, but I can put some things together!

Quick update, the library sent me a form showing the parking lot hours. If anyone needs help with parking arrangements, reach out to me ASAP!

In hindsight, probably should have come up with a different name for this one, and had the "winter" one after Christmas in January or something. Ah well, there will be more shows and events to try and get the nomenclature right. ;)

A tremendous thank you to everyone who made the 2021 Winter Retro Festival a huge success- both to our awesome exhibitors and to everyone who came out to see the show! A wall of photos is on it's way! 😁
