Join the Wisconsin Computer Club for our next library Open House Show on Saturday, November 25th! This time we're taking the show to McMillan Memorial Library in Wisconsin Rapids in the ground floor multi-purpose room. Featuring vintage computers, games, and more! Free retro fun for the whole family!

McMillan Memorial Library is located at 490 East Grand Avenue in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, 54494. It is 100% wheelchair accessible.

The show will run from 10AM-4PM, exhibitors in at 9AM, out by 5PM; everything is pretty much the same as we've had at previous library shows in other libraries.

Reach out to get in as an exhibitor; there will be plenty of room for everyone, I just need to know how to arrange tables. ;)

See you there!

@Performa What are you planning to bring?

Should we recruit David Farmbrough to share his Sinclari story again, and record it?

Would you bring the CoCo 3? I will look to bring a 1 and 2, but can't guarantee functionality, and will enjoy hacking on them during the show.

I can bring my Raspberry Pi 4--what to demo?!

I've got the beam robot booted up to Linux, but no apps or motor control. Need to email the company.

I can get the 1 and 3 there. I don't have any games for the Model 1 right now as it doesn't have enough RAM to load the SDC cart, but if we can get one it'll run just fine.

Alright, quick run down of my planned lineup for tomorrow's show:

Atari 2600
TRS-80 Model 1
TRS-80 Color Computer 1
TRS-80 Color Computer 3
TRS-80 Color Computer MC-10 (Modified)
The Phillips CDI
PlayStation 2 Eye Toy
Commodore 64

I will have a couple other machines in reserve, and will likely fit the Osborne 1 into the set as it remains both functional and fun for the attendees. That version of Pac Man has to be the absolute worst ever.

Pictures!

First, an overview of the room right before we were "open" for the show, with Nick in the center for scale. It's an unusual room in that it has an elevated "stage" at one end, and a kitchen-y space on the other. It's also at the very back of the library since they've reconfigured things.

Here's the big "feature" with all the Tandy TRS-80 Color Computers all lined up, plus an earlier TRS-80 Model 1.

From left to right, TRS-80 Model 1 (and the Dell laptop that pretends to be it's cassette deck), Tandy Color Computer 1, Tandy Color Computer 1a (white case), Tandy Color Computer 2, Tandy Color Computer 3, and Tandy Color Computer MC-10. The MC-10 gave us trouble throughout the show, but it looked good doing it. 🤭

Some of the guys messing with the CoCo's:

Other machines present, Ninetndo/Sharp Twin Famicom and the venerable Commodore 64.

The Philips CD-Interactive.

Nintendo 64.

IBM PS/2 Model 60, Tandy 1000.

Further down from the Tandy 1000, there was a Macintosh 2 and Macintosh Classic, with Video Sports Pong on the end.

Couple more pictures. I didn't get a lot when people started coming through as they all wanted to talk to me. 😅
